Timothy Chou (周昱薰)


Short Bio

Tim was born in 1988 in California, USA, he was interested in physics, investment, hiking, philosophy and social movement. building electronic toys, and photography. In 2006, he entered National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. In 2010, he received the B.S. degree in physics. Since then, he started to pursue a Ph.D degree at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) under the supervision of Prof. Tien-chan Lu and Professor Chien-Chung Lin. At the time his research focus was on semiconductor lasers. During Tim’s time in the doctoral program and in the postdoctoral research period, Tim has authored and coauthored over 29 refereed papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including ACS Nano, Nano Letters, ACS Photonics, APL, Nanoscale, IEEE JSTQE, Scientific Reports, CLEO, PIERS and CLEO-EU. Tim has received several prestigious awards and scholarships during his undergraduate and graduate studies including the NCKU Academic Excellence Award (2007), Wu Mo Qing scholarship (2015 & 2016), College of Photonics Excellent graduate Award(2016), Postdoctoral Research Abroad Program subsidy under Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan (2017), Chuang Shun Lien Memorial Award (2017), Rackham Summer Graduate Student Award (2015), Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholar (2018) and MOST young scholar fellowship (2018). In 2019, he joined the Department of Photonics at National Cheng Kung University as Assistant Professor.
